Get the most out of the life of your candle.
Burn it right. Cap it tight.
Caring for your candle is important!
Our Candles burn approximately 5 hours per ounce of soy wax. Each crumble tin is approximately 30 to 45 days worth of scent when melted in a wax melt burner appropriately. Each wickless candle has approximately 60 to 80 hours of scent. It is important you follow the simple rules below to extend the life of your soy candle. Please follow all safety guidelines below.
ALWAYS KEEP ANY CANDLE AWAY FROM PETS, CHILDREN, AND FLAMMABLE OBJECTS AND SURFACES.
CANDLE FLAMES AND WATER DO NOT MIX!! Never douse a candle flame with water. When combined within any candle, they can explode and ignite. Only extinguish candles with a candle extinguisher or use the old fashioned ‘blow it out’ method.
Never burn any candle in drafty environments (think fans and ceiling fans; by an open window). A steady and calm flame is important for your candle as this can cause an uneven burn throughout all waxes.
Always Trim the Wick. Trim the wick to 1/4 inch each time your candle is lit. This maximizes the burn time of any candle! However the first time you light a new soy candle, do not trim the wick shorter than 1/4 inch! This can prevent the wax from fully melting from edge to edge and ruin a great candle! When burned, hemp wicking will form a carbon dot on the burned wick, known as mushrooming. Make certain to trim the mushroomed wick to the recommended 1/4 inch even between burns.
The First Burn is Extremely Important! Prevent Tunneling! Have you ever burned a candle and had dry, hard wax around the outside edge that just wouldn’t melt no matter how long you burn the candle? Burn your soy candle properly the first time and it sets the stage for the life of your new candle. On the first light of a new candle, burn it for at least 2 hours, or until the wax melts to a complete liquid pool on the top around the diameter of the vessel.
Limit Each Burn Time to No More Than 3 - 4 Hours. Any candle, if burned more than 3 - 4 hours, can get dangerously hot and cause damage to the vessel or the surface it is placed on.
Cap Your Candle After Each Burn. This will help preserve the scent of your candle, as we use organic hemp wicking, untreated crackle wicks and custom perfume fragrance oils free of Di-ethyl Phthalates, which can be harmful and can trigger allergens in some people.
Never Leave a Soy Candle in a Sunny Window. Soy candles are a softer wax with a low melt point and will melt with ease in extremely hot temperatures.
Choose the Proper Sized Candle for Your Room. Larger rooms with high ceilings will require 2 candles to properly scent the space with a strong fragrance. Cathedral ceilings will require 2 double wicked 16 ounce candles to properly throw scent because of the air space.
Know When to Say Goodbye. When your soy candle has about 1/2 inch of wax left in the bottom of the vessel, it is time to say goodbye! Burning any candle past the recommended 1/2 inch remaining wax can cause damage, and possibly a fire, if not extinguished and discarded. Wicks can move from their fixed position and cause glass to crack and possibly hot wax to leak.
Soy has Character. Natural soy can ‘frost’ - think of cake frosting - and can ‘wet spot’ around the glass vessel. These are natural occurrences and can happen to any candle, but soy is more susceptible as there are zero additives, preservatives, or dyes used with our 100% natural soy. Usually, with the first and possibly second lighting, the glass vessel heats the soy back to its original creamy ivory appearance.
Wood Wick Candles. Wood wicks are extremely popular! We use only untreated booster crackle wicks which transfers scent beautifully. Every wood wick should be cut to less than 1/4 inch in height. At first light, burn candle for at least 2 hours or until a full melt pool forms around the diameter of the candle. After first light, char naturally builds up from the previous burn. Cool the candle completely until solidified, and using wick trimmers, trim the char off and make certain the wick is less than 1/4 inch in height.
We are not responsible for misuse of a candle, wax crumbles tin, or wickless candle! Please follow all safety instructions with any candle and remember there is always a fire risk when misused or improperly burned (not trimming wicks each time, drafts, etc.).
CARING FOR WAX MELT CRUMBLES AND WICKLESS CANDLES
Our wax melt crumbles are NEVER to be burned by a flame! Enjoy the crumbles and tarts in a wax melt burner specifically designed to melt scented waxes.
You can choose the amount of crumbles melted! Use a tablespoon at a time, or half! Our unique crumble tins are designed to be used directly on the wax melt pan. Just pop off the lid and sit the tin directly on the melt pan if you prefer to melt the scent all at once. Cap the tin when cool (tins can get very hot). This makes it convenient to switch scents without wasting a single drop of scented wax and scent will last longer.
Never leave a wax melt burner unattended! No - there isn’t a flame! But soy wax has a lower melt point and can get extremely hot when melted. Spilled wax can cause burns and damage to surfaces.
Do not leave a wax melt burner on for longer than 4 hours at a time and always follow melt unit manufacturer instructions.
Wickless candles are just that - candle wax that is super scented without the wick. They are designed to be warmed on a candle warmer only. Never put a flame to a wickless candle! The candle warmer heats the wax from the bottom to the top of the vessel (opposite of a wicked candle) and the scent is released when the wax starts to get hot. Caution: the vessels still get hot to the touch when melted on a candle warmer! Cool completely before capping or moving off the warmer.
Keep out of reach of children and pets. Not for use on skin! Though all our fragrance blends are toxin free, the fragrance load per candle, melt and wickless candle is not for massage candles on the skin.
